Two New Poems I Wrote Tonight
TWO POEMS
FRIENDSHIP
Like suns that orbit around each other
Like notes stuck in the stave of a beautiful song,
always hanging near each other, one looks slightly up to see the next note
Like twin saviors of the world that duel each other for dominance
Like two adjacent rooms whose walls have split and only light comes through
Like switching characters and remembering everything that character knows then switching back again
The loudness and the laughter are
Two wings of a butterfly
The silence and the tears are
the butterfly spine
of Friendship.
Now, the eternal present moment,
out of which we flicker like the flame of a candle,
or grow like a blade of grass...
getting twisted up in the fire of each other,
in the vine of each other,
in this moment and in our dreams
